Set against the backdrop of Cathedral Catholic High School’s state-of-the-art facilities, this event brings together the region’s most promising young athletes for three days of skill, strategy, and spirited competition.

Legacy 7v7 Tournament Rules
GUARANTEED GAMES: 4
FIELD LENGTH: 50 total yards (40 yards with a 10 yard end zone).
TEAM MEMBERS:
- Each team has a maximum of 25 players. Players will not be accepted into the event as individuals. All players must be part of a team.
- All players must be on the team roster at the start of the tournament.
- Teams are not required to utilize an offensive center. If utilizing one, the center will be responsible for setting or repositioning the football at the line of scrimmage. If no center, the QB will be responsible.
STARTING EACH GAME:
- The designated home team (2nd on schedule) will begin possession of the ball on the +40 yard line with a choice of hash mark. Higher seed in Bracket play.
- A horn or whistle will begin each game.
- Each game will last 20 minutes, running time.
- Game official will declare when the clock goes under two minutes.
- The clock will not stop for anything. Each team can have one 30-second
timeout in the last one minutes of the game in playoffs. - A horn or whistle will end each game.
- There is no Overtime in Pool Play.
- Overtime will consist of one play each from the 10-yard line to determine
winner. Offense has 30 seconds once the play clock is set to get a play off or will lose their possession.
MOVING THE BALL:
- Offense always starts on +40 yard line with a choice of hash mark after any change of possession.
- Offense has three downs to gain a first down from the 40yard Line, 4 downs to get a the 2nd First Down and 3 Downs to score from the 10 yard line.
- First down markers will be at the +30 and +10 yard lines.
- The Format is 3-4-3.
- For the conversion after a touchdown, the offense can choose to go for 1 or 2 points. A 1 point conversion is from the +5 yard line, and a 2 point conversion is from the +10 yard line. The offense may have a choice of hash mark for ball placement.
- No runs are allowed
- Defensive players can not cross the line of scrimmage until ball is thrown.
- Offense can use any formation to move the ball with 1 quarterback and 5 eligible receivers. 7th player may only be a center to snap the ball.
- Quarterback will have 3.5 seconds to throw the ball. There will be one person per game designated with Sack Clock Timer.
COACHING YOUR TEAM:
- There will be one offensive coach allowed on the field at any time.
- The coach must be positioned behind the offensive huddle.
- Coaches are not allowed to challenge any official ruling.
- Remaining team coaches can work from the sideline.
- No defensive coaches are allowed on the field.
- Each team can have a maximum of 4 coaches. Coaches will be allowed on the sidelines only during games (other than Offensive coach).
SPECIAL RULES:
- No blocking.
- Blocking will result in a loss of down with the ball returned to the previous
spot. - Ball carrier is legally down when touched below the neck with one hand.
- A defender cannot leave his feet to make a tag. Runner will still be able to run if defender’s feet are off the ground.
- Excessive force by shoving, pushing, blatant tackling to the ground, or striking a blow, excessive holding will be penalized by automatic first down and moving the ball to the next first down spot.
- Player will be expelled if ruled unsportsmanlike & flagrant.
- Fumbles (including snap) are dead balls at the spot with the last team in
control retaining possession at the spot. - Each team will have 25 seconds to put the ball into play.
- The offensive team is responsible for retrieving and returning the ball to the official. The clock does not stop and any delay by the offense in retrieving and returning the ball to the official will result in a delay of game and a loss of down.
- The coach must report all game play ruling discrepancies to the Field Manager no more than 50 minutes after that game has ended. Any reversal or game-changing decisions will be made at the Field Manager’s discretion.
- The tiebreaker used for seeding after pool play will be: Head to Head, Points Allowed, Points Scored, Coin Flip.
- There will be no overtime during pool play.
- NO FIGHTING. Anyone who breaks this rule will be disqualified for the tournament.
PENALTIES:
- Defensive pass interference is an automatic 1st down. The ball will advance to
the next 1st marker. - Defensive holding will not result in an automatic 1st down.
- Holding will be a 5-yard penalty and repeat the down.
- If defensive pass
interference is committed within the 10-yard line, the ball will advance to the 5-yard line with an automatic 1st down. Inside the 5 yd line the ball will move to the
1 yd line also automatic 1st down. - Holding within the 10 yard line, the ball will advance to the 5 yd line and repeat the down. Inside the 5 yd line the ball will move to the 1 yd line and repeat the down.
- Offensive penalties will result in a return to the previous spot plus a loss of down.
- An interception is a change of possession with the intercepting team gaining possession at the +40 yard line. For player safety interceptions will not be ran back.
- Interception will 3 points for the defenses team.
- Delay of games will result in a 5 yard penalty. Any delay of game or false start from the 40yd line will result in a loss of down. 30 second play clock will be
enforced.
PLAYOFFS:
- Playoffs are single elimination.
- During playoffs, if games end in tie there will be a longest play tie breaker.
